General elections in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

Kingstown, Nov 5 Polling stations opened in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines on Thursday, and Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves, from the Unitary Labor Party (ULP), is expected to assume his fifth consecutive term, according to predictions.
The other political forces in the race are the New Democratic Party (NDP), of Godwin Friday, and the Green Party, with two independent candidates.
All participants are competing for 15 seats in the national Parliament, which is made up of eight ULP lawmakers and seven NDP parliamentarians.
If the ULP wins, 74-year-old Gonsalves will remain in office for a fifth consecutive term since the country achieved its Independence in 1979.
For his part, 61-year-old Friday, who is participating in the race for the first time, is a member of the legislative body since 2001.
