Brazil confirmed to be the universal epicenter of the Covid-19 pandemic by reporting 90,303 new infections today, a new daily spike, and raising total to 11,693,838, the government reported.
The daily Health Ministry press briefing also said that 2,648 deaths were reported in just 24 hours, so Brazil´s death toll jumped to 284,775.
Taking heed to these figures, average death toll reached 2,117 daily in last week, while average number of infections reached 70,219 in just one single day.
Brazilian Health Ministry´s report also showed that 10,287,057 patients recovered from Covid-19, and 1,122,006 are still under medical examination.
A report from the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (FIOCRUZ), the country’s major medical research center, warned that this spike is causing ‘the largest health and hospital collapse in the history of Brazil.’
For specialists, the fresh Covid-19 outbreak in Brazil is in keeping with the appearance of a coronavirus variant detected in the state of Amazonas, social indiscipline in the face of prevention measures, and with the irresponsible management of President Jair Bolsonaro.
