Brazil exceeded the threshold of 100,000 Covid-19 infections in one single day for the first time, confirming the country is going through the worst phase of the pandemic.
According to the epidemiological briefing by the Ministry of Health, 100,158 Covid-19 were reported from Wednesday to Thursday and the total amounted to 12,320,169.
The Health Ministry also said that 2,777 deaths were reported in the same period, so Brazil´s death toll reached 303,462. Plus, it was indicated that 10,772,549 patients recovered from the disease.
Despite the alarming figures, the country’s Vice President Hamilton Mourão ruled out a general lockdown.
He clarified that the restrictive measures must be in charge of governors and mayors, because each one of them knows about the situation in their region.
