Cuba reports 1,004 Covid-19 cases and four deaths

Cuban health authorities on Thursday confirmed 1,004 new Covid-19 cases and four deaths in the past 24 hours.

So far, 90,408 cases have been reported in Cuba and the death toll has risen to 491 since March, 2020, according to the National Director of Epidemiology at the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), Dr. Francisco Duran, during his daily press briefing on television.

The expert said that 24,408 patients remain in hospitals: 3,704 are suspected cases, 15,964 are under epidemiological surveillance and 4,740 are active patients with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus that causes Covid-19.

Dr. Duran added that 20,672 real-time PCR tests were performed in the country’s 25 molecular biology laboratories to detect the coronavirus.

Hence, Cuba has analyzed 3,298,208 test for over a year since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country.
