UK daily Covid-19 infections rise over 30,000 for 12th day in a row

The United Kingdom (UK) has reported Sunday more than 30,000 coronavirus confirmed cases for the 12th day in a row, while fearing of an even huger rise in the disease after schools reopen coming week.

According to UK´s health authorities, as many as 33,196 new coronavirus infections were confirmed in last few hours, raising the toll of coronavirus-infected people to 6.7 million since the beginning of the pandemic.

The authorities also reported new 61 deaths, so UK´s death toll jumped to 132,437.

The National Statistics Office (NSO) reported, on the other hand, comparing to August 2020, that positive Covid-19 cases went up 26 times in England alone, ranging from 28,200 in that period to nearly 757,000.

UK´s health authorities also fear that the beginning of the school year (Sept. 3) and massive music festivals held this weekend in separate parts of the country will contribute to increasing coronavirus infections in coming weeks, despite the success vaccination campaign.
