Covid-19 causes more than 50 long-term negative effects

Washington, Sep 1 (Prensa Latina) Covid-19, a disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, causes more than 50 long-term negative effects on humans, a specialized source revealed today.

According to the Nature’s Scientific Reports journal, these negative effects can last for weeks and even months after a patient’s recovery is confirmed.

The list of sequelae is led by fatigue, followed by headache, attention disorder, hair loss, shortness of breath, loss of taste and smell, cough, chest pain, decreased diffusion capacity of lung, sleep apnea and pulmonary fibrosis, heart disorders such as arrhythmias and myocarditis; in addition to tinnitus (when a ringing or other noise is felt in one or both ears) and night sweats, as well as neurological disorders including dementia, depression, anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorders.

Scientists found that 80% of coronavirus-recovered adults had at least one long-term symptom lasting weeks to months after an acute, mild, moderate or severe Covid-19 infection.

Other studies showed that the SARS-CoV-2 virus causes disorders in the liver and pancreas, ages the brain, produces nodules in the posterior pole of the eyeball, conjunctivitis, retinopathy and loss of teeth, among other sequelae.
