Floods caused by heavy rains have killed 84 citizens in Sudan, and damaged or destroyed thousands of houses, according to a balance updated by an authority from this African country.
‘A total of 84 people were killed and 67 others were injured in 11 states across Sudan after the beginning of the rainy season,’ said Abdel Jalil Abdelreheem, spokesperson for Sudan’s National Council for Civil Defense.
Torrential rains usually fall in Sudan between June and October, therefore, the country faces severe flooding every year, wrecking properties, infrastructure and crops.
According to a UN report, the heavy rains and floods have already affected 102,000 people from July to September, so that 50 villages have been submerged in southern Sudan, 65,000 people were displaced and South Sudanese refugee camps were totally inundated.y from this African country.
