Saint Lucia Records 106 New Cases

Press Release: The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs today Wednesday, October 6, 2021, confirms a total of 106 new cases of COVID-19. These cases were processed on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at the Ezra Long Laboratory from a total of 379 samples which were collected between October 3 and October 4, 2021.

This number of positive cases makes up 28% of all the samples processed on that date. These new cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in- country to date to 11,833.

Confirmation was also received of the recovery of 158 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19. This brings the number of active cases in-country to 1,215. Two (2) individuals are in critical state while seven (7) others are severely ill at the Respiratory Hospital.

To date, a total of 36,134 individuals have received the first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and 29,832 have received the second dose. A total of 10,860 individuals have received the first dose and 4,373 individuals have received the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

Vaccinations will continue tomorrow Thursday, October 7, 2021 at the Vieux Fort RC Parish Hall, and Tapion Hospital and People’s Discount Drugstore at its St. Louis Street Branch by appointment only. Vaccinations are scheduled for distribution at all sites from 9 am to 2 pm.

The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs will continue providing daily updates to the public as new information becomes available.
