Two-month-old baby among 31 new COVID-19 cases, Jamaica’s tally surges to 288

The Health Ministry is reporting that Jamaica now has 288 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
According to the Ministry, the 31 additions come in the wake of the island having boosted its testing capacity with the recent commissioning of the new COBAS machine at the National Public Health Laboratory in Kingston. The machine complements the testing that was already being done at the National Influenza Centre.
Of the 31 new cases, 19 are females, while 12 are males, who range in age from two months to 72-years-old.
25 of the 31 new cases, are associated with the Alorica, call center in Portmore, St. Catherine, while six of the cases are under investigation.
So far, 2518 samples have been tested, 288 are positive, and 2,221 are negative.
There are currently 288 persons in isolation, and 91 in quarantine in a Government facility. Seven people including a four-year-old child, have died. 28 persons have recovered.
