Barbados accepts stranded Trinidad nationals

Barbados on Monday accepted 35 Trinidadians into a mandatory quarantine after their own country refused to relax a national border shutdown it put in place the day before to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus in the twin-island republic
The Trinidadians arrived on a flight from England after completing a cruise vacation that had started in Dubai last month and ended when they flew back into London on Sunday.
Attorney General Dale Marshall, speaking on CBC-TV on Monday night, said Barbados had reached out to Trinidadian authorities asking them to let their citizens in, but that request was denied.
“The Trinidad nationals arrived this evening and immediately upon arrival, they were treated to the special protocol, and the entire machinery of Government, the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Tourism, kicked in. Our responsibility is at all times to ensure Barbadians are safe and this presented some challenges for us in relation to this situation.
