Trinidad COVID-19 deaths toll now at 135

(Trinidad Guardian) Trinidad has recorded an additional COVID-19 related death bringing the toll to 135.

According to the Ministry of Health’s daily update, the person was an elderly male with pre-existing medical conditions.

The ministry also confirmed eight new infections from samples collected between January 31 and February 2. It brought the total number of people to be infected locally up to 7,586.

Despite these new infections, active cases dropped to 247 after the ministry released 15 people from its care; three people were discharged from public health facilities while 12 were released from home self-isolation. This made 7,205 people to recover from the infection.

Of the infection still active, there were 30 people in hospitals, 208 in home self-isolation and one person at a step-down facility.

There were 307 people in state quarantine facilities.
