Guyana reports 128 new COVID-19 cases and 2 deaths

Two new COVID-19 deaths were recorded yesterday along with 128 new cases.

The Ministry of Health announced in a press release that the country’s death toll as a result of the virus now stands at 310 as of May 5, 2021. The two persons were identified as a 57-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman, both from Region Four.

The new cases that were reported, increased Guyana’s total number of confirmed cases to 13,957 as 781 more persons were tested pushing the total number of persons tested to 127,708. The majority of new cases were reported in regions Three and Four with 30 and 58 respectively.

There are now 1,844 active cases, 99 of whom are in institutional isolation while 1,745 are in home isolation. A total of 16 persons remain patients at the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit while 115 more persons have recovered increasing Guyana’s total recovered cases to 11,787.
