Dominica implements weekend lockdown amid COVID surge

Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has announced a weekend lockdown as COVID cases on the island surge.

The lockdown took effect at 6 p.m Friday and will continue until Monday at 5 a.m.

Only essential workers will be allowed on the road.

Dominica reported 103 new cases on Friday.

Around 90 per cent of those testing positive had not been vaccinated.

Dominica have 367 total confirm COVID-19 cases and no deaths.
