Saint Lucia Records 139 New Cases, 6 More Deaths

Press Release:- The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs today Wednesday, September 29, 2021, confirms a total of one hundred and thirty-nine (139) new cases of COVID-19. These cases were processed on Tuesday 28, September 27, 2021 at the Ezra Long Laboratory from a total of 526 samples which were collected between September 26 and 28, 2021.

This number of positive cases makes up 26.4% of all the samples processed on that date. These new cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in- country to date to 11, 459.

The Ministry of Health also reports six (6) new COVID-19 deaths. All of these deaths occurred during the period September 23, 2021 to September 28, 2021. To date, the total number of COVID-19 deaths in country is 155 and the total number of COVID-19 related deaths is 44.

COVID-19 death #150 is a 78 year old male from the Dennery district. COVID-19 death #151 is a 92 year old male from the Micoud district. COVID-19 death #152 is a 77 year old male from the Babonneau district. COVID-19 death #153 is an 82 year old female from the Micoud district. COVID-19 death #154 is a 75 year old male from the Babonneau district. COVID-19 death #155 is a 69 year old male from the Micoud district.

The Ministry of Health extends sympathizes to the families, friends and loved ones of all of
these individuals.

Confirmation was also received of the recovery of 93 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19. This brings the number of active cases in-country to 1,539. Two (2) individuals are in critical state while twelve (12) others are severely ill at the Respiratory Hospital.

To date, a total of 35,845 individuals have received the first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and 29,574 have received the second dose. A total of 9,706 individuals have received the first dose and 2,440 individuals have received the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

Vaccinations will continue tomorrow Thursday, September 30, 2021 at the Vieux RC Parish Hall, Anse La Raye Wellness Center, and at Tapion Hospital and People’s Discount Drugstore on St. Louis Street, Castries by appointments only. Vaccinations are scheduled for distribution at all sites from 9 am to 4 pm.
